I bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max from Tech Hub around March and traded in my iPhone 14 at the same time. The purchase was smooth and professional, and everything seemed fine initially. About a month later, I realised my phone wasn’t vibrating for calls, meaning I was constantly missing them. I took it to Apple, who ran diagnostics and found that the screen had previously been replaced with a non-genuine Apple part. I was quoted around R11,000 to replace it. This was especially concerning because the Instagram advert for the phone stated that the screen had been replaced with an original Apple part. A few months later, the battery began swelling, lifting the screen, and eventually the phone became unusable. Apple quoted me around R22,000 to repair the phone due to the battery and non-genuine replacement parts. At that point, I had to buy a new phone. Insurance also refused to cover the issue. We contacted Tech Hub, but rather than acknowledging the discrepancy regarding the screen, I was offered another screen replacement at a reduced price, which didn’t really address the situation. My biggest concern is the vetting process for the second-hand phones being sold. If a seller is told by a previous owner that a replacement part is genuine, how is that actually being verified before the phone is advertised as having an original Apple part? Customers have to rely on the information provided by the seller, and in this case, that information turned out to be incorrect. Overall, I’m very disappointed with the experience and would strongly recommend having any second-hand iPhone independently checked before purchasing.

I am very happy with my experience. Tech hub made sure to communicate with me throughout the process up till my phone was received. I had a lot of questions and they answered every question with kindness and patience, and their replies were always swift.
